We spent a magical weekend in Mustique. We moored close to shore and were slowly rocked into total relaxation by the incoming swell. We were only there for three days, and they were all perfect.
We made our pilgrimage to Firefly for more champagne and martini drinks, great conversation with Stan and Patrick and a magnificent view of the harbor and sunset. The Pirate was awarded with his official Mustique Martini Club member shirt. He achieved the status on our last trip to Mustique, but they did not have a shirt large enough for him, so it was special ordered and waiting for him this time. Everything about Firefly was wonderful, the drinks, the setting, the food and the people. We are very excited to be spending our New Year’s Eve there this year.
We were also able to catch up with our good friends Rocky and Laura and their son Skylar. They live on Mustique for 8 months a year where Rocky manages one of the mansions and Laura teaches. Cajun took a hiking trip with Laura to snorkel with the breeding nurse sharks in one of the protected and isolated bays. The hike was long and hot and unfortunately the conditions were too murky to get a good view of the sharks. We ended out the afternoon by cooling off in the waters of beautiful Macaroni Beach.
We also spent time snorkeling the reefs and walking the seemingly endless beaches. On one afternoon we walked for over an hour on a palm-lined, white sand beach never seeing another person, never seeing a piece of trash or an emaciated dog. Mustique is simply different than most of the other places we visit and we love it for this. Can’t wait to return next month!
