WHO DAT BABY!!!
We flew to Arizona to visit Pirate’s parents. We had a wonderful time and were fed like Kings and Queens! They are such special people and it was nice to be able to spend some time with them before we head back to the islands.
We made it back home to NOLA just in time for the huge celebration. Saints season opener against the Vikings, the unveiling of the World Champions banner, an NFL Mardi Gras parade through the French Quarter and Dave Matthews and Taylor Swift playing in Jackson Square. Add a hundred thousand Who Dats to the mix and you have one hell of a party! Of course we were among them. It was an excitement and fever that you just can’t help to be bit by especially if you are a New Orleanian, like we consider ourselves to be.
The city was rocking for sure. The streets were jam packed with people from the Dome to Jackson Square and beyond. The weather was typical New Orleans- hot, steamy, humid- but it didn’t put a damper on the festivities. People were dancing in the 95 degree heat under the blazing sun in all sorts of elaborate costumes- lots of black and sparkly gold everywhere you looked. Even the pets were dressed up.
Of course the best part was that the Saints came out with a win! It was a great game, much of it watched through nervous fingers covering our faces and lots of screaming and yelling, but those are usually the best kind anyway. Geaux Saints!
It really is special to be back home. New Orleans is our heart and soul and it’s wonderful to see it so alive!
