We had a fabulous time in Anguilla. 10 glorious days of relaxation. We finally said goodbye to our holiday home and set sail once again. We went 35 miles south to the tiny island of St. Eustatius, or Statia as most people refer to it. We were once again the only sailboat in the harbor. The sea was pretty rough and we were rocking and rolling while anchored there.
We went for a short hike to the fort in Orangestad and then to our favorite restaurant, Golden Era, for drinks, food and a dip in the pool. It was a great way to spend the day. The food was delicious. Curried local lobster and garlic shrimp. The Pirate even got behind the bar to whip up some potent strawberry margaritas. We left tipsy and happy.
Statia was too small and the anchorage too rocky to stay more than two nights. We set sail yet again for Nevis. The winds were on our nose the entire time, but luckily the wind was light and the waves were small. After 6 hours of motoring, we anchored right off our favorite bar, the Double Deuce. We are back amongst all our local friends at the Deuce, sipping cocktails and watching Sunday NFL playoffs. We are enjoying being back on the boat and sailing again!
