Our first month back in the U.S. has been a whirlwind of activity. So much has been going on, that we have neglected to update this blog for quite some time. We have been traveling to many places and visiting with cherished friends and family at every opportunity. In addition to all of the fantastic reunions, we have been feverishly at work taking care of all of the business items that have arisen over the past year. As you can imagine, so many things need our attention (mountains of mail, millions of meetings, never-ending to-do lists). The days are flying by. Before we know it, it will be time to fly back to Grenada for another season of sailing the Windward and Leeward islands.
We first spent a wonderful couple of weeks in New Orleans where we did a marathon tour of all of our favorite restaurants. Steaks at Morton’s, fried seafood at Jack Dempsey’s, poboys at the Bakery, home cooking at Mom’s (this is the best restaurant by far) and Mint Juleps at the Rib Room. After all of that, a diet was in order; however, that was not to be as we flew to Prescott, AZ to visit the Pirate’s family and indulge is more delicious home cooking.
Our visit to Prescott was very special as we had both Pirate and Cajun’s family together for a week of eating, drinking and story-telling. Mom made countless meals and desserts, each one more delicious than the next. We were even surprised by a visit from Pirate’s brother. It was a special birthday week for the Pirate. After departing Prescott, we were definitely in need of a diet!
After Prescott, we settled in in Newport and got to work. But, not for long. We soon were off to a weekend retreat in Cape Cod with our dear friend Rick. And then took a road trip to Indianapolis for the Brickyard 400 at the invitation of our good friend Jim.
It seems that our summer will continue at this whirlwind pace for awhile longer. We are getting ready for upcoming trips to Nantucket and Chicago. In between our stateside adventures, we are working closely with Grenada Marine to make sure all repairs on our “home on the water” are completed and everything is in ship-shape condition for our return. We definitely will welcome the opportunity to resume our liming ways.
